A mixture of two human monoclonal antibodies made by recombinant DNA technology…

Discovery in 2005 of a mixture of two human monoclonal antibodies made by recombinant DNA technology against rabies to replace the short in supply
anti-rabies antiserum recovered from human or horse blood. (Bakker, J Virol, 2005). In 2006 we were able to show that our mixture was as good in protecting against rabies as the old remedy (Goudsmit, JID, 2006). In 2008 we were able to show that the two human monoclonal antibodies retained activity in humans for weeks and were, when given in a fixed mixture, completely harmless (Bakker,Vaccine, 2008). Trials in Asia are planned to show efficacy in humans in 2011-2013.
